Our son, Joshua Michael Wood died of a fentanyl overdose on March 12, 2023. He was 29 years old. He struggled with schizophrenia, psychosis, and drug addiction. Joshua knew how difficult it is to spend time in mental health institutions, drug rehab centers, and hospitals. Our prayer for him was that he would overcome his addiction and use his experience to encourage and inspire others to cope with mental illness. We hope that his story will have a positive effect on your life and that this book of John will bring you into a relationship with Christ.

Joshua was a kindhearted, fun-loving, and sensitive soul. He was very generous. He enjoyed playing soccer, longboarding, skimboarding at the beach, and playing golf with his family. He loved watching the Boston sports teams win with his family and attending Patriot football games. He could always be found listening to all sorts of music and writing his own lyrics and poems. He loved people: he gave water, money, and even his coat to a person living under a bridge. Most importantly, he was a Christian. While Joshua did not overcome his addiction in this life, he overcame it by accepting Jesus as his Savior. He now lives in Heaven without addiction or schizophrenia.

Even through his struggles, Joshua sought God’s light. He was far from perfect, but the hope of salvation is freely available to all who ask. Whatever you struggle with, get help, ask Jesus to save you; then do the hard work to address sobriety and cope with the challenges you face. Jesus will walk with you. Surround yourself with people who will walk beside you.
“I am the resurrection and the life he who believes in Me, though he dies, yet shall he live.” John 11:25
